Guodian NDT Oxide Scale Measurement Instrument

A hard oxide coating will gradually build up on the inside of power generation boiler tubes caused from a reaction between the water and carbon steel when heated to very high temperatures. The thicker the oxide layer, the less efficient the boiler becomes and additional heat build up will promote creep in the tube metal – resulting in a loss in remaining life with a long term overheat failure.

Nondestructive measurement of internal oxide scale thickness is of major interest in the power generation industry and other users of fossil fuel steam boilers, since scale thickness may be used to predict remaining tube life. Magnetic testing is a nondestructive process for detecting surface and slightly subsurface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials such as iron, nickel, cobalt, and some of their alloys.

Based on magnetic testing application, Guodian NDT offers Oxide Scale Measurement solution using our Stainless Steel Oxide Scale Detector BTDO-Ⅱ with a probe. It provides valid data about overall oxidation and corrosion of the Oxide scale on heating surface of the stainless steel pipes. It can also be used for retrieving ferromagnetic foreign objects inside the stainless steel pipe, such as iron scarp and metal wire. It can use a rechargeable battery, without power supply when test, which is suitable for outdoor environment operation.
